Furnace is an active incremental game about smashing ore with a blacksmith's hammer.

Your hammer follows the cursor and strikes on its own. Chase the ore around the forge floor, keep your combo alive, and land hits in the sweet spot at the center of the swing for double damage. Every strike heats the ore — get it past its melting point and it pours out as molten metal worth more.

When the Heat runs out, the run ends. Spend what you earned on a skill tree of over a hundred nodes: harder hits, wider swings, longer runs, new ores. Each ore moves its own way — copper rolls, silver flees, gold drops nuggets, titanium is armored, tungsten shakes the floor.

Buy new hammers with gems. Smelt raw ore into alloys and pull runes for your hammer's three sockets. Clear trials to unlock relics, take orders from the townsfolk, and pack supplies for the next run.

Break the Heart of the Furnace to finish the story — then keep descending into the endless Depths.

Controls

  • Mouse / finger — move the hammer (it strikes automatically)
  • 1 / 2 / 3 — pick a boon when offered
  • Esc — close a window

Changelog

v1.4 — 2026-10-15

  • New sound effects: hammer hits, ore breaks, coins and gems now use recorded samples (Kenney, CC0) instead of synthesized beeps.

v1.3 — 2026-10-13

  • New: Forge Events. From Silver onward, one random event hits each run: Gold Rush, Cold Snap, Comet (×25, catch it before it burns out) and Ore Stampede.

v1.2 — 2026-10-13

  • New: Target ore. A red crosshair marks the richest ore on the floor. It only breaks on dead-center hits and pays ×10.
  • Deeper skill-tree nodes cost a bit more to keep the pacing.

v1.1 — 2026-10-13

  • Volume slider next to the Sound button; late-game sounds no longer pile up.
  • Runes now look like rune stones, and tapping one slots it into a free socket.
  • Auto-buy button on the results card.
  • The "Regular" achievement now reads "Play 50 runs".

v1.0 — 2026-10-12

Fun game, but a few things could be improved:
1. A volume slider would be nice, because the game gets very loud towards the end.
2. At least for me, the gameplay suddenly deteriorates somewhere in the middle game; the skill tree grows so large that I can no longer be bothered to go through it manually, and the hammer becomes so powerful that you just have to move it in circles. From that point on you're just going through the motions until the game is complete.
3. Everything about runes is unintuitive. For the longest time I couldn't figure out how to equip them. The worst part is that they don't look like runes, they look like ingots.
4. I assume "light the fire 50 times" means "play 50 rounds"? That's the only achievement I'm still missing, and I couldn't be bothered to get it because I'm only halfway there.

Thanks so much for playing all the way through and for the detailed notes! An update is live now:

1. There's a volume slider next to the Sound button, and late-game sounds no longer pile up into a roar.

2. Mid-game: there's an Auto-buy button right on the results card, and from Silver onward a red Target ore shows up. It only breaks on dead-center hits and pays ×10, so just circling around now leaves the best coins on the table.

3. Runes look like actual rune stones now, and tapping one slots it straight into a free socket.

4. That achievement now reads "Play 50 runs".

Thanks again, this feedback made the game better!

Holy moly that was fast! O.o

This game is incredibly addictive! The mechanics are interesting and engaging, and the graphics are beautiful. I just kept wanting to play more and more, always eager to see what came next. It’s the kind of game that really keeps you hooked!

PS: Hourglass - too powerful

Thank you so much! Really glad you made it all the way to the ending 🔥

There's a fresh update with Target ores in the mid-game (hit them dead-center for ×10) if you feel like another round.
